Challenge Information Webinars
Monday 5th July to Friday 9th July 2021
Following the introduction of the ORCA Hub’s extended work programme last week – the recording of which will be on our YouTube channel shortly – please find links below to register for the follow up deep-dive information sessions on each of the challenges we will be focusing on.
- Monday 5th July, 09:30-10:00 – Multi-Robot Cooperation for Remote Inspection and Intervention Subsea
- Tuesday 6th July, 09:00-09:30 – Aerial Inspection of Large Infrastructures in Challenging Conditions
- Wednesday 7th July, 09:30-10:00 – Robust Robot Inspection and Manipulation in Hazardous Environments
- Thursday 8th July, 09:30-10:00 – Cyber Physical Fabric (Digital Twins) for Rapid Robot Development and Insertion into Industry
- Friday 9th July, 09:30-10:00 – Symbiotic Systems for Resilient Autonomous Missions
The short presentations and Q&A will give you an opportunity to hear more about the challenges most related to your business and ask the lead academic questions about their plans.
Multi-Robot Cooperation for Remote Inspection and Intervention Subsea
Hear from Dr Sen Wang, the challenge academic lead from Heriot-Watt University, about how he and his team are going to develop capabilities that will enable the replacement of crewed support vessels for offshore wind operations with Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) and onshore remote operations, delivered using a cloud platform for remote operation/presence with safety measures, a Digital Twin and data services.
Aerial Robot Inspection of Large Infrastructures in Challenging Conditions
Hear from Professor Mirko Kovac, the challenge academic lead from Imperial College London, about how he and his team are going to develop a new generation of UAV robotic technologies that can provide 4D sensing of wind turbine blades by including aerial 3D mapping, NDT sensing and surface measurements.
Robust Robot Inspection and Manipulation in Hazardous Environments
Hear from Dr Ioannis Havoutis, the challenge academic lead from University of Oxford, about how he and his team are going to develop capabilities for remote robot interaction with assets in extreme environments including valves, switches, doors, and debris for inspection, repair, and maintenance operations.
Cyber Physical Fabric (Digital Twins) for Rapid Robot Development and Insertion into Industry
Hear from Dr Adam Stokes, the challenge academic lead from University of Edinburgh, about how he and his team are going to build and utilise simulations to first iterate the development and test of robots in synthetic environments, before running emulation and tests in labs.
Symbiotic Systems for Resilient Autonomous Robot Missions
Hear from Professor David Flynn, the challenge academic lead from Heriot-Watt University, about how he and his team are going to create a symbiotic ecosystem of systems for trustworthy autonomous robotic services that unlock human potential and adapt to the lifecycle demands of a dynamic world.
