ORCA Delegation Attend NASA Hosted Workshop

On 27 and 28 March a delegation of researchers from ORCA Hub were invited to Houston, Texas to participate in an Automation, AI & Robotics Workshop hosted by NASA and organised by the Houston Technology Collaboration Center and UK Science & Innovation Network.

Hosted by the NASA Johnson Space Center, the workshop ran over two days and featured a plethora of speakers from all different areas or robotics, AI and associated fields from the Houston and surrounding areas.

ORCA Hub, along with fellow “Robotics and AI for Extreme Environments” Hubs, RAIN and FAIR-SPACE were invited to give presentations on their individual projects.

The delegation was hosted by the UK Science and Innovation Network and British Consulate-General in Houston who provided guidance on companies and facilitated the event.

It was inspiring being at such an event and an excellent chance to build connections...

Dr. Alistair McConnell

The team found it to be both an inspiring event and an excellent opportunity to build connections with companies and groups previously unknown. They also found it interesting to meet the NASA staff and have an opportunity to experience their methods of working.

On the final day of the event the team were also taken on a tour of Houston Mechatronics which proved to be incredibly interesting, motivating and an excellent source of potential future collaboration.
